Organizing 101: Toddler's Comfort Zone

One of the many projects I have in my list is to teach our little Jaida the art of organizing.  This way, she'll have an idea that her toys are valuable things that she needs to give care for too; and the best way is to start putting them in order.

Since I am on a budget I decided to sort of reshuffle what were already available in the room and spend a few bucks on the really-needed items. The first was turning her small cabinet for clothes into a toys' stack but with a little touch of an angel. :-) I wanted a clear sight of the toys she has so I bought shoe boxes (96 cents in Walmart) and organized the toys of the same kind.  Labeling it is a better idea...I should do that next week.

This rack was in our bathroom but we decided to take it off because it was eating up too much space in our small bathroom. Then,  I asked my dad to screw it permanently on this wall of Jaida's room. I thought that little space at the back of her door can be very useful to put more stuffs out of the floor. I also put a little plastic hooks to hang her favorite purses and back-pack. Some of her shoes with their boxes were placed on top.
This shoe rack was bought about a year ago in Ross and I still am mesmerized on how practical and clean it is. I kept the old shoes in a small bin and arranged the shoes she wear now according to design. I had all the maryjanes on the left side and a few rubber shoes (she has no interests on them except for that one, Dora she loves so dearly) on the other. It's just so cute to see that even a 3 year old can be very neat. She sure knows where to put her shoes back after wearing them. (This is ofcourse when I always see her leave her shoes on the floor in the living room after being taken off. hahaha.)

Another thing that proves a space is ALWAYS AVAILABLE when it seems it's not are closet doors. Since our walls are for some reason built to have an uneven surface (I have no idea what it's called) and it kind of look like an interior design itself I never wanted it touched or painted. So I decided to stick her alphabet and number posters on her closet doors. Seems to be not so fashionista but surprisingly it looked very neat.

Lastly, I arranged all her books and stood them according to size. She loves books and although she doesn't read yet, it's good she's beginning to learn how to take good care of them.

Whew! That was a little work indeed. But all worth it after looking at her room again this afternoon.

I must thank www.pinterest.com for the most ideas of this project.
